With this scheme, any surplus electricity you generate is fed back into the grid, and you receive payment for it through your bill or invoice. However, you must sign up to access the SEG tariff, as it is not applied automatically.
Licensed energy companies with 150,000 or more customers are required to offer at least one SEG tariff. Smaller suppliers may choose to provide an export tariff at their discretion. Additionally, suppliers can offer alternative methods for compensating exported electricity outside of the SEG arrangements. Different energy providers may have their own export tariffs, and regulated energy suppliers must provide export terms to eligible microgenerators. Contact your energy supplier to find out what options are available.
When applying to your electricity supplier to export your excess electricity, you will typically need to provide documentation, such as a copy of your G98 or G99 Certificate and possibly your MCS certificate.
